Background of the study
Transcript processing is an essential component of academic administration in universities. Students rely on their transcripts to apply for further education, employment, and scholarships. At the Federal University of Technology, Minna, the manual processing of academic transcripts has led to delays, errors, and inefficiencies (Olawale & Abdullahi, 2023). Students often face long waiting times, and academic staff are burdened with administrative tasks that could be streamlined through automation.
An automated transcript processing system provides an efficient and error-free alternative, ensuring the quick generation, verification, and delivery of academic transcripts (Nuhu & Mohammed, 2023). The system will allow students and administrators to access, verify, and issue transcripts without the need for manual intervention, enhancing the efficiency of administrative processes and improving the experience for students. This study aims to design and implement such a system to streamline the transcript processing workflow at the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
Statement of the problem
Manual transcript processing at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, results in delays, inefficiencies, and a high margin for errors. This study aims to design and implement an automated transcript processing system to address these challenges and improve the transcript management process.
Objectives of the study
To design an automated transcript processing system for Federal University of Technology, Minna.
To implement the automated transcript processing system and integrate it with existing student records management processes.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the automated system in reducing processing time and improving the accuracy of transcript generation.
Research questions
How effective is the automated transcript processing system in reducing the time required to process and issue transcripts?
What impact does the automated system have on the accuracy and reliability of academic transcripts?
How do students and administrators perceive the usability and effectiveness of the automated transcript processing system?
Significance of the study
The automated transcript processing system will streamline administrative tasks, reduce errors, and enhance the efficiency of transcript management. It will provide students with quicker access to their transcripts and improve overall administrative performance.
Scope and limitations of the study
The study will focus on designing and implementing the automated transcript processing system for Federal University of Technology, Minna. The study will evaluate the system’s impact on processing speed and accuracy but will not extend to other institutions or educational levels.
Definitions of terms
